KG Curriculum
We combine the essential features of the Traditional Approach and Montessori Method to ensure all round development in the child. The stress-free method followed for KG classes make the children enjoy and learn the basic concepts, that prepare them for the Elementary Education and for life as a whole. As Observation, exploration, thinking and imagination are the keys to learning in young children, lot of opportunities are provided for the children to engage in the same through Excercises of Practical Life, Sensorial, Language, Arithmetic and Geography activities.
Developmental objectives such as the Physical, Cognitive, Affective and Social, Psychomotor and Aesthetic are achieved through the learning environment of Montessori Hall and Traditional KG Classes.
Indoor and outdoor activities and games develop fitness, and fine and gross motor skills in children. The Montessori learning using knob -board, pegs, beads, pattern, blocks, crayons, paint brushes, finger-paint, pencils, and other learning materials develop excellent hand –eye coordination in children.
Creativity is developed through activities using clay, sand, water, gardening tools, blocks, music, creative stories and other materials.
Primary, Middle and High School Curriculum
The curriculum pertaining to the Central Board of Secondary Education is followed for Classes 1 to 9. The Curriculum constitutes a total teaching-learning program composed of overall aims, syllabus, materials, methods and assessment. It provides a framework of knowledge and capabilities appropriate to the particular level.
The teaching-learning process ensure making the student an inquirer, thinker, communicator, principled, venturing, open-minded, caring, well-balanced and reflective individual. Our main focus is Holistic Development of the student.
Evaluation
For classes VI and IX CBSE curriculum with CCE pattern of Scholastic and Co-scholastic domains are given importance.
Some of the objectives in Scholastic domain include learner’s knowledge, understanding, application, skill and analysis.
Objectives of Co-scholastic domain include Life Skills, attitudes, interests, values, co-curricular activities and physical health. Individual learner’s strengths, weaknesses and needs are diagnosed through worksheets and Question Banks. Assessment is carried out frequently and is planned at the same time as teaching.
Formative Assessment
Class work, Homework, Oral questions, Quizzes, Investigative Projects(Group/Individual), Assignments/Tests, Experiments, Conversation/Interviews, Debates, Group discussion, Dramatization, Presentations including the use of IT, Seminars, Field Trips etc. are included in Formative Assessment.
Summative Assessment is used to sum up learning.
The year has 2 Terms. Each Term as 2 FA s & 1 SA.
While formative assessment includes continuous evaluation throughout the year, summative assessment will require students to appear for written exams at the end of each term. Students will be evaluated on a 9-point grading system. Students will also get grades for their co-scholastic and learning skills as well on a 5-point scale. These grades would also be reflected in the report card.
Pre-primary and grades 1 and 2 will have continuous assessments/comprehensive evaluation through worksheets, projects and student portfolio all through the year. The other methods of assessment are observation schedules, checklists, anecdotal records, classroom participation, class notes and homework.

How would GFIS prepare students coming from different schools for the academic programs?
A common bridge course would be developed and administered through hands on activities, worksheets, concept maps based on the need and the competing level of the child for the first term. The bridge course would also address the different skills required for the class. A special course would be conducted to develop English language focusing on the speaking, listening, reading and writing skills.
Does GFIS offer any kind of extracurricular activities, such as Music, Dance, Sports etc.?
GFIS offers extracurricular activities to bring out the real potential of a student in every activity. Grades 1 - 10 will have within the timetable - Art and craft, music, dance, and sports, GK, storytelling and a Reading program.

What strategies are used to teach students to become fluent in English?
In fact, this is one of our primary focuses. We have certified English Faculty and we create Bridge Courses, Reading Programs, Phonetics, and English Improvement Program for students. Speaking English is compulsory. Teaching is in English and learners pick up the nuances of the language. Reading Is Fundamental (RIF) is a unique program that is being introduced to motivate the children to read for rest of his/her life. In addition to Main Library, a Digital library is being planned with lot of Articles/Books that mainly focus on English grammar and Fluency. Computer Lab and Internet will be used as tools to enrich the child’s fluency in English.

How is the progress measured?
GFIS maintains class and activity records of each student to measure the progress. The worksheets, grading for all class activities, report cards, emails inform parents of their child’s progress. Grade wise meetings are called and parents are informed. Student Portfolio is maintained. A student profile is created at the time of admission and each month it is updated with subjective records.

Parents can meet the Principal on all school working days between 9.30a.m. and 3.30 p.m with prior appointment. Please seek an appointment with the principal through the school reception.
What is the purpose of the school diary?
The school diary is a tool of communication between the teachers and the parents. A lot of information is available in the school diary and parents are requested to check it regularly for school events, announcements, celebrations, assessments, holidays etc.

Yes, a well secured temporary hostel accommodation is provided for girls and boys separately in Dharapuram town.
How are parents informed about the progress of their ward?
Parents are informed quarterly about their child's progress at school. They can meet teachers on scheduled Open houses or PTMs
